Ideas are not flowing

Spent most of the night fiddling around and trying to come up with an idea… after a day of work and raising mah 3 offspring… the brain meats simply aren’t firing. Off to bed before midnight like a good little programmer.

Catch you tomorrow morning where we’ll be bad guys. Shiny?

Ludum Dare 25 – I’m in

This is the second time I’m competing in Ludum Dare.

My initial *attempt* was LD22. I went against all rules and instead of using something I was familiar with (Ruby / Gosu) I decided to go with HTML5/Canvas/JS for it’s ease of distribution. It was called “Alone. For Now” or AFN for short.

It’s still up and running and you can find it here: http://afn.heroku.com — though you can hardly call it a game. Twas mainly an exercise in learning a toolset. I did complete something but it lacked polish, sound, and… you know, the game part. I should also mention that I built and scrapped it on three separate occasions throughout the competition.

This time. Oh this time…

I’ll be learning a new toolset. And it will be good.
Trust me. I’ve done this before.

OSX, Unity3D (with focus on the web player), C#, cfxr, vim, IRC, and a mechanical keyboard (filco majestouch cherry mx browns).

And so it begins. Normally I use Ruby/Gosu but decided to try something new… Goal for evening #1 (LD started at 9pm for me) was to get a base app created and deployed using Sinatra, JavaScript/CoffeeScript, HTML5/Canvas, SASS, and HAML. Success!

Time to get some rest. More fun tomorrow!
