I have a BA in Theatre. I want to make games. Does that make sense?

Ludum Dare Fail
So, I spent yesterday, all of yesterday failing to get a basic platforming engine working. Once I fixed one problem, another would arise. So, don’t expect anything playable for the compo. I might have something for the Jam deadline.
Holy eff, I need to sleep
It’s only 1 AM, but having never programmed a basic platformer before, my meager attempt to get jumping has failed miserably for the past 2 hours or so. I should probably finalize an idea first. All of them are probably unoriginal, though I have a few scenarios I think are interesting. I think that’s what I’ll do. I keep of thinking of ideas and then settle on making the game on the most interesting one, not necessarily the one I think I can get done on time. How else am I supposed to improve if I don’t push myself? For, now, G’night!

My setup
My video card unfortunately only supports one monitor, but I like my setup. I will not be using the 360 in the corner there. Nothing really special. I have a tablet, but I lost the pen
Just a keyboard, mouse, headphones, and 23″ widescreen monitor.
My first Ludum Dare
Hey, everybody, it’s my first Ludam Dare! I’m EFFIN’ excited!
Here’s what I’ll be using to make my game
Language: ActionScript 3
Engine: FlashPunk
Graphics: Graphics Gale, Photoshop CS4
Audio: sfxr for sound effects, either musagi or Anvil Studio for the music, and Audacity for any post-processing
IDE: FlashDevelop
