Yet Another Post Mortem

The Dare is my iron. To quote Henry Rollins:

The Iron never lies to you. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told that you’re a god or a total bastard. The Iron will always kick you the real deal. The Iron is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black. I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.

Coding a game in 48 hours is humbling. I might think I’m a coding bad-ass but the Dare tells it true. (I’m not)

Batcave – all in one package for macos

I created a pre-packaged version of batcave for macos here.

Just a single zip file with batcave.app inside.

On windows and linux, you’ll still need to download the love2d framework separately.  My windows/linux machine decided to stop booting, I suspect that it’s jealous of the other woman (macbook pro) and is trying to get revenge.

And we’re Done

And by we I mean me.  This was my first ludum dare and I had fun.

First download the love2d framework.  Then download the batcave.love file. Double click, and enjoy.

Note: The .love file is just a zip file, so you can open it up and view the source.

We can’t stop here. This is bat country

Hey all, first post.

The basic idea for my game is: You’re a bat, in a very dark cave.  So you have to use your sonar to send out sound waves to “discover” the world around you.  The waves are really just particles, but its cool to see em bounce around. The screen shot doesn’t really do it justice.

More soon, as I finish the damn thing, and figure out how to package up a binary.

Anyhow, here are some interesting facts:

  • Love is awesome (so is the engine)
  • Theres a nice emacs syntax highlighter for lua (lua-mode.el)
  • BSP trees are bitch to debug
  • I’m not wearing any pants.

I’m sure your glad you read that whole list, huh?
