I am creating a post to declare myself officially IN! Good work Dezzles providing the keynote <3
I will be using Flashdevelop/Flashpunk, as I have done for nearly all my LD entries. Good luck peeps!
I wanted to see what you guys think of a little game I have been working on: Solar Quest!
It’s a little 3D space monopoly game based on the board game of the same name. Get it here!
Let me know what you think!
I am massively pleased with the outcome of this Ludum Dare! There are some great entries, and I was fortunate enough to be mentioned on a few sites:
But I want to poll you guys for your opinion. What should I do next?
The way I see it I have 3 choices:
1) Turn the game into a full game. Take the ideas from the LD, and work on them until I have a full polished game, in the same way that World of Goo was developed from Tower of Goo.
2) Add “DLC”. Make more levels, more content, and put it up on the site so players can get more out of the game, as I realise it is easy and short at the moment
3) Screw it all and work on something else.
Let me know what you guys think!
My LD20 entry is officially finished! I call it – The Last Survivor.
Go check it out!
…and now to relax! aaaaaaaah mmmm that feels good
I can look forward to seeing other people’s entries now hehe.
Well, the competition is quarter way through already. Time flies when you are having fun! ^___^
Having a lot of fun playing around with Flashpunk, got plenty of ideas to work with, so it’s all good!
Without further delay, my first screenshot!
As you can see, the game has lasers. The rest, is a secret!
See you at the half way point!
So here it is, the 20th Ludum Dare. Do I have any idea what kind of game I am going to make? No.
Will that stop me? HELL NO!
LET’S DO THIS!
And so that people actually see this post instead of skimming past it, have a picture of my cat :3
I just wanted to spend a moment to shamelessly ask you to try out one of my first finished projects, a small game named FatCat:
It’s free and it’s made by myself and a few artist friends, so check it out if you have time and give me some feedback! I would love to hear some opinions on it
After 48 hours of misery, I bring to you…Where Am I?
A game of…discovery! intrigue! and….. noises!
Check it out!
YOOOOOOOO LUDUM DARE FANS!
Today I’m bringing you an update on my latest creation for LD19, a currently unnamed game!
It’s damn difficult to get a screenshot of the game in action, as most of the action takes place in the darkness:
I’m very pleased with my progress so far, as I have been extremely ill all day today and will probably be ill tomorrow as well, but I was ill last LD so damn it this time I’m finishing a game!
OK, I’m all ready for entering Ludum Dare #19!
OK LETS DO THIS!!!!! Right after I go to bed.
Good morning! Hope it isn’t too cold for you all to get some LD action!
So here’s my progress report:
Remade the game using flashpunk! All levels are playable, so 90% of today’s work will be cosmetic, adding more levels and prettying things up
I’m pretty happy with my progress so far, as even if I stop now I will have done what I set out to do, and anything more for me is a bonus.
You can see the current progress here:
Good morning sports fans!
So I decided since I was sick during the last LD I would make up for it by taking part in the Mini LD, try and do something I haven’t done before, yata yata.
With that in mind, my game is going to be a remake of my first LD entry, Island Construction Malfunction:
I’m going to be using FlashPunk, which I have been learning to use a few days ago hehe, so that is my own little personal challenge.
I’m not sure how much of the game I will end up improving, hopefully I can get more levels in or work in the mechanics a bit better, so I guess we will see how it goes!
Well, I’ve spent the last 32 hours staring at the walls trying not to vomit, being ill. LAMEEEEEEEEE!
So I’m out. I feel good enough today to be able to sit up and type and things, but I figure I’m pretty screwed if I want to try and enter something, so its going to be laying back, chilling out, and soup for me!
2nd LD this time, and I wasn’t sure until today if I was going to go through with it, but I’ve pretty much finished my large project, so I figure why not?
Also while I’m here, WHO KEEPS VOTING KITTENS DOWN! I will find you! *glares*
I’ve finished! And I’ve come up with a name for the game since my last post!
Island Construction Malfunction is my game, and I’m feeling pretty good about how it came out.
If I had more time, I would have added sound effects to go with the music, have made a level editor, and added more gameplay features.
It’s 14:47, 12 hours and 13 minutes until the competition ends!!
I’m feeling good about finishing this project, I’ve got 4 levels working now and working on adding more!
I’ve finished my “art” for the game, and have spent most of the morning adding features and trying to make the game as fun as possible
Been having slight issues with getting sound in, so it might not have any but I’m working on it!
Dinner time now, so catch you guys at the end!
So it’s 23:08 here and slowly getting to the end of the day…and 50% through the competition! And what do I have to show for it? well…
Just showing how the first level has been made and can be won/lost, so hopefully I can spend tomorrow on those all important gameplay features! Having spent ages today on getting the UI all working nicely.
Also todo: Sound, Music, Graphics, Polish!
Well after waking up at 8am to find out the theme is Islands, I’ve set about to work!
And here is the first pic!
Run red square! Run from the blue wave of death!
Just place holder tiles in at the moment, the green tiles will be the “islands” with you attempting to place tiles of land in order to save the people (red square) from the water (light blue). Not many mechanics as such yet, the water spreads out, the red man runs away, he gets squished.
So we will see how it goes!
Let’s do this thing!
Weapon of choice: DirectX
PC – Check.
Pen/Paper – Check.
Coffee – Check.
Ample spare time – Check.
Cat – Check.
Youtube/IRC – NO! BAD! RESIST!
Looks like I’m ready!
On a side note, did anyone check out Sid Meier doing a similar 48 hour competition? link
