Controls should be fixed.
I have added some options:
-choose between window and full screen mode
-choose mouse sensitivity
-choose crab speed
Download: TheCrawlyCrab_b.zip
Still a bug in the controls, I will try to fix it, update soon.
The infection risk of the Crabs was depending on the CPU, now it’s constant for every CPU. The Game should now be much easier.
Furthermore the speed of the crabs is no more increased from level to level, because fast crabs are really hard to kill and move. The first level starts with a number of 50, the second with 100 and so on.
I updated the mouse controls and hope it is better now, soon I will include some Options, where the mouse sensitivity can be adjusted.
Please try it again, thanks for reporting the bugs.

Here’s my goody, TheCrawlyCrab. Thanks to GLBasic for that what it is.
Thanks to all from LUDUMDARE, it was a great fun, but also lots of work, now I’m terribly tired ;).

Have fun!
“The Crawly Crab” is finished
. I will upload a first version soon. One thing is left, the documentation about the controls, story and so on. There are still some things I wanted to implement, but I haven’t. I wanted the crab to be animated. After I have animated the crab with anim8or, I wanted to implement the animation in GLBasic, but I had a problem with the 3dconverter?? I don’t know where’s the problem???. However, now the crab isn’t animated. Furthermore, I wanted a hall of fame, but this is still missing. Maybe I will do.
Most of the work is done, now the fine tuning is needed.
Here comes the story. The former evil arachnids are now tiny sweety crabs
. They are captured inside this big kind of crab trab. Using this red vehicle you can rescue them by controlling them to the exit or open water, respecively. The more crabs are rescued the more points are awarded. But the problem is, that some crabs get infected by a virus, and if they come into contact with other crabs the virus is transmitted, which works like a CHAINREACTION. So you have to kill the infected crabs by pressing the left mousebutton if you are in contact with an infected crab. A huge cone will come up and destroy the bug.
OK, I have spend a lot of time with modelling this damned arachnid. I have started a little bit coding. The two arachnids are making a kind of random walk. The yellow figure is controlled by the player. If the yellow figure is near one of the arachnids, they escape from it. This is a way of indirect controlling the arachnids, like a shepherd dog and the sheep. My idea is to start at point A and bring as much of them to point B. There will be some dangers at the way and of course I have to implement the chain reaction, which will be something special, but more later.
Hi,
I’m a little late, the contest has begun here in Germany at 4 am, however I have just started. I’m developing with GLBasic (www.glbasic.com). It will be a 3d game and the modelling is done with anim8or (www.anim8or.com). I’m still thinking about the gameplay and I’m not really shure, but it will be something with lots of small insect-robots
.
Here’s a first screenshot of my insect-robot-prototype (without legs and texture).
