Ludum Dare 27
Ludum Dare 26
Ludum Dare 25
Ludum Dare 24
Ludum Dare 22
I’m here, doing a good’ol jam with my girlfriend. I have some demo for you: http://atridas87.cat/LD27/LD27_run.zip
Now I’m going to sleep, and tomorrow we’ll finish this game!
I don’t have Internet at home. No connection. Zero.
Well, 4kbps. That is the same as none.
The question is, will I be able to do a ludum dare without our friend Google? Will my provider be able to solve the problem before this weekend? I hope to enter this, my 5th LD!!!
I wasn’t planning to do this LD but, wtv………. LET’S GO!!!
I HAVE AN IDEA!
Not finished, but almost!
Just finished the gameplay, no screenshots this time.
I can’t program in a while, I’m mentally tired. Basic gameplay is complete, Things that must be added to the game asap are:
- Game Over Screen
- Level Complete Screen / Game Finished.
- Ranking Screen
- Start Screen
Yes I know, it’s saturday, we shouldn’t be starting NOW.
But we are.
Why? Because we are doing the Jam, and I like the “program in 48 hours” thing. So I just began now, to have the game finished tomorrow. Yes this was programming art, my girldfrind is doing the “real” one, I hope it will be better than mine
I’m in for other LD, but this time will be Jam time!
Long story short, my girldfriend wants to participate, but she wants to do mostly art, so we’re teaming up! As we can’t post for the compo (Duh!) we’ll have to do a Jam, but fear not, we will do it in (mostly) 48h because we can’t do anything on saturday.
So 48 hours (more or less), with “hard” deadline (monday), 2 people, Java (probably) 2D (probably), game-on-web (that is important, indeed).
Althought I finished yesterday, I had to do some things this morning.
Basically writing all licence attributions (ogg, slick, etc…) and the web applet, so more people can play my game.
Now I’m tired, so, so tired! And hungry!
But no, I’m not done yet. My game is, but now I have to play and rate a THOUSAND games.
Wish me luck!
I have finished, as my repo shows!!!
Now I only need to upload it somewhere. I’m having problems with googlecode ’cause it does not like so large files.
I’ll see if I can split them…
Yay!!!! The game is playable!
I have submitted my entry, and now I’m gonna eat something, so I can have energy to make the finishing touches!
Here you can find nice ones: http://www.squidfingers.com/patterns/3/
Ok, I’m finished for today. I have the game preparation finished (not yet, I need the AI to do it’s initial choices, but I will place a rnd so it won’t take that much).
Now I should make a list on what’s missing:
- Make a Game State for each turn phase.
- Make a popup window to see your rival’s cards.
- Show your hand.
- Show rival’s hand “colors”.
- Write the score somewhere visible.
- Make a tutorial (<- this one will be very hard and important!)
- Make a menu.
- Make a win/loose screen.
- Make creature cards (jajajjajajaja that won’t happen. They will stay numbers. Sorry)
- Sound effects, ambient music (mnnnch, I hope I have time for this one, I feel it’s important).
Nothing more comes to my mind, but this will keep me busy tomorrow, for sure.
I just found a background I’ll be using maybe temporally, maybe not, so I have to write down were did I get it:
So, I’ll have to release my code? DONE!
It’s on google-code. Once I learned to work with mercurial I can hardly work without it, so I just settet that up and uploaded to a repo I’ll be using (I hope) in forecoming editions.
Here I have my lunch and everything I have done till this very moment. You can see some board games and also those papers are the game manual. I’m not decided in the name yet, and I fell I will have problems finding one original enough to not get as buried as “Evolving Creatures” would.
I’m toying with slick as I begin to feel the hunger. I’m not yet started in programming the game BUT I have written ALL it’s design!
I have with me 4 A4 pages handwritten with the “manual” (style copied from Power Grid). The game is much more a table-card game than a videogame, and I kind of like that. Now all I have to do is implement it, the design is finished!
Also, I’m gonna cook something. No food, no joy!
Here you have the first screenshot:
Just learning Slick. I wanted to try Unity this time, but the game idea is so 2D that I thought that would be a waste. So I’ll learn Slick real fast and I’ll start implementing this in a moment.
Now I’m starving, so I’ll go eat something and I’ll be back in a minute.
