About AClockWorkLemon (twitter: @cworkgames)

About me..... hmm....

I am a hobbyist Game Designer. I'm 16 and live in Sydney, Australia. Generally, I work with 2D games using the trusty (not so) ol' Game Maker 8, however i have recently been honing my skills on Unity3D, as well as XNA and Flash with FlashPunk.

I am a huge fan of Nicklas "Nifflas" Nygren, and his games. Knytt Stories all the way!

Not much else to say....

I’ve been working on a bit of AI, and this is how it’s turned out.

A & D to move Left / Right. you cannot jump.

click to place portals. blue sucks, red blows (thankyou Douglas Adams). placing a red underground will make the terrain higher, if you are standing on it, you move up too. dropping ground on an enemy kills it, turning it into what is basically a ground tile (which you can use as a “weapon”, along with the rest of the ground)

An update on progress

…the first one, actually XD
Well, i have about 1/2 – 2/3 of the game logic done, and a beautiful set of filler sprites that will gouge your eyes out with their ugliness. here’s a screenshot (notice how mt filler sprites have the same colour pallet as last LD :D )

Physics Galore

Yeah, see each of those outlined blocks? each one has it’s own rudimentary physics

A-ha! finally i can start!

I’ve finally managed to complete my history homework, so, four hours in, i can start my second LD (YAY :D )

I’ve got a couple of ideas, but i’m not sure. might scan in a few idea sheets, once i draw some up XD

OH, SHI-!

lol, i have just taken unlucky to the next level (but thankfully i have worked around it)

My game workstation is my laptop… and i left the charging cord at school (i wouldn’t be surprised if you could hear faint cursing wherever you were). i managed to fix it by swapping the hard-drive into the *cough*school*cough* laptop (i’d never… XD) and booting into safe mode to get those drivers going. it’s not very fast, but still easily useable (as long as i dont have to re-boot, that takes 20 minutes ………)

I was thinking of using this LD as a sharp learning curve for me learning XNA in VC#, but it looks like im going to have to revert back to good old GM8 this time. maybe i can use XNA next time :D

Possible New Game Engine!!!one!

Although i will probably be using Game Maker, i have started learning XNA, and MIGHT use that.
Wish me luck (i’m still finishing the XNA 2D tutorial XD)

Entry … Maybe (still)

Hiya, its me again :D

I realise i hvn’t really been active over the past few months, but i will probably be participating in LD#18 (yay)

I will give final confirmation depending on the amount of homework i have that weekend, but look forward to a wacky GM game from me!

An apology

I must make an apology :(

I have, due to a pile of homework, been unable to rate many games at all.  will try to rate as many as i can, but I can’t promise that i will. If i didn’t rate yours, my sincere apologies. Good luck too all of you! ~ACWL

I’m still going to  be with the community, and will probably take part of LD#18, i will just be a little quiet.

A Question…

I have noticed in the voting list that there are strange bronze and silver medals next to peoples names. May i ask what they are?

FINISHED!!! WOOOOOT!!!

Sunday, April 25th, 2010 6:26 pm

Well, i have finally finished my entry. It doesn’t have any background music, as i didn’t have time (and i can’t make music for shit) and not quite as many levels as i would have hoped ( i ran out of ideas). I’m happy with the end result, especially for a first LD.

ENJOY!

Even more functionality!

Now we have:

Bridge: solid, can be walked on and underneath. can only be placed to the left or right of something

Box : solid, acts as a platform and/or wall. has physics (aka, it falls)

Jump pad: can only be placed on floors. makes l’il dudes jump
