Dracula’s Treasure!
Here’s my submission – Dracula’s Treasure, I hope you guys enjoy it! I started off this jam with an idea for a “Dracula Dating Sim” which would place Dracula in high school, where he would try to win the heart of some incredibly stereotypical high school girl by dressing as an incredibly stereotypical high school boy. All in all, I don’t think I knew enough about dating sims, dialog trees, or high school to get it playable. Here’s a peek at what I had gotten done by Saturday morning:
So on Saturday afternoon I set out on making a new game based loosely on Flicky and City Connection where you play as Dracula trying to protect your valuables from impending eviction:
Anyway, I wanted to do something a little different – and even though this is closer to my M.O., I tried a lot of new things and learned quite a bit.
Great LD! The theme was great (even though I’m not advanced enough to tackle some of the better ideas I had for it) and the company was great!
Feeling some love from my hometown right now.
I went ahead and organized a meet-up for LD24, and – to my surprise – there were a lot of people here in Richmond who wanted to help out. Citizen Restaurant donated space, Play N Trade donated pizza, The Flying Brick Library donated a projector, and lots of other people came by to show support, bring snacks, and hang out. Even local press were very interested:

The absolute coolest part though was seeing the developers that came out – so many cool folks, some that I knew, some I’m glad to have met, and they all did really interesting projects.
I don’t really say this much, but good on ya Richmond VA, you’re a pretty swell town sometimes.
I’m in – and so is Richmond VA!
I’m looking forward to this one – so much so that I’m hosting a Richmond, VA meetup!
I’m most likely going to be using Flixel and FlashDevelop again, but I may team up with some friends at the last minute – I want to be more flexible since I might be busy with hosting things
And 48 hours later…
I can’t believe I pulled it off. A lot of placeholder art got a permanent home, and I had to nix the entire story, there were some features I got rid of, and some features could definitely be polished – but all in all, I’m super happy I did it. Please check it out – here’s the Entry. It says “Windows” but the game is Flash – I’m still in a daze from the past 48 hours so I totally missed it
