In for Oct 2012 Challenge: Alpha^2D
It’s been a long time since I have done game development (back in my day cell-phones ran this thing called BREW and J2ME, and you’d be happy if you could raster a 128×240 screen in 4bits of gray scale! We also had FF00FF up hill both ways in the snow!).
This is a new project starting from scratch, based on ideas that I’ve been kicking around for almost a decade in a very minimalist form.
Project: Alpha^2D
A 2D top down multi-player game, where players control space ships in real-time (have you played subspace?) in a little persistent world. Gathering resources, selling/buying from stations, attacking other players. Will most likely be in Java on lwjgl, but since Torque3D has gone MIT that may be useful instead. (God help my rusty C++ skills).
