Sidescroller Evolution

Man, such a weird ludum dare for me. I had zero ideas until Saturday evening, and zero motivation. So, I just started to draw, and draw and draw, until I had a full set of assets. At which point, I decided I might as well just do something with them. I decided pretty early on that it needed to have some relaxing music that I just couldn’t provide, so I upgraded the entry into a Jam.
The Good
I drew a lot, and really pushed my expectations of myself with what I could do art-wise, especially in a short amount of time.
The Bad
I drew a lot, and really pushed off the code and gameplay until I had no choice but to work on it.
The Ugly
Those seams! Agh! Ran out of time to polish the art and get things to tile nicely. I also wanted to do more artsy things like have birds fly by, foreground/background trees, and have the fox kick up grass as he ran. In retrospect, I should have just done that, and focused on making an environment to explore rather than a game.
Overall it was okay. I put a little too much of myself personally into it though, and I got bummed and sick afterwards (less bummed now, but still sick). If I had gone full-on artistic, that probably wouldn’t have happened since I would have cared less about the gameplay.
