Failure is success
This was my first Ludum Dare and although I was unable to post my entry in time, I have learned plenty of important things to help me progress.
The reason for my failure was because I have seen to big and had too much to do in too little time. The benefits I received from this is that I learned my capabilities and I learned how fast I can really code. I still managed to have a playable 2D plat-former which included:
- physics
- map loader
- end-screen
- text
- doors & keys
- falling spikes
- spikes
- camera
- a player
- items
- traps
All of this was coded from scratch using Java with Slick2D only. In addition, I still had time to create all of the graphics, animation and levels.
In the future, I will either seek smaller, or use a bigger game engine. Here are a few snap shots of the unfinished game.
