Paris is quite a walk from my place. I'd like to get into contact with this person though, to try and promote LD in France, get the ball rolling.

So, if you're the dude from Paris or you happen to know this dude from Paris, and you're reading this, please contact me at k@xi.gd

At the moment I have a VERY crappy connection, so I can't check, but if it doesn't exist yet, it could be interesting to set up a #ludumdare-fr channel on the IRC

I am willing to translate a few blog posts into english during LD events, as well as help provide support in english before and after the events. If there are other French/English bilinguals, it could be interesting to open up LD to all the Frenchies who don't join in because they don't understand English.

I’m just asking if other people in the area are interested to see if it’s worth renting a bigger place or something.

I see. :)

Last week I was chatting with a Frenchman on the IRC channel, who told me he was organising a similar get-together for LD23. He said he was hoping to get 20+ people because he had a large place to host it. I suggested that he write a post about it, so that readers have time to make plans... so when I saw your post I assumed that was you!

Now that I think back, I think he said he was Parisian, so opposite end of the country! :P

It's a er... Private event, I'm just asking if other people in the area are interested to see if it's worth renting a bigger place or something.

Otherwise, food will be in common, nothing like a good barbecue meal with good people.

Also, we have 20 Mbps internet at the house, wireless though, unless I run a cable from the balcony to the garage

I’ve spoken about LD to these friends, but most of the time they seem to react as if it’s some kind of impossible feat.

This is one the things I love most about LD.

if you have any ideas/suggestions/warnings on organising a DevJam at home, please drop me a comment,

- You could post photos of the venue so people know what work environment they are getting.

- Let people know what facilities you are providing. That way nobody is in for any surprises. eg, Will it be one big room for everybody? What kind of internet bandwidth does grandmother's house have? Wired/Wireless? Is it wired to every room? Would grandmother be okay with visitors using her cooker? Does she expect some quiet on an evening? Is there plenty of parking space?

- You could make some rule about not having food/drink around other people's hardware, and maybe facilitate this either by keeping people's desks spaced apart a bit. Is there enough space to do that?
