FOR HONOR: I made a game called Pile of Kittens!
I’ll admit to being a little shocked/saddened at kittens not winning LD#22. Fortunately the Unity Flash in a Flash competition came up shortly after LD #22, though, so I was able to make a game called Pile of Kittens for that. It’s a platformer where you can herd and throw your plentiful kittens to overcome obstacles and deadly robots. I spent ten days on it.
It’d look a bit better with anti-aliasing, but that’s not yet supported in Unity’s (still beta) Flash functionality. I encountered a lot of performance and implementation challenges with that version, but it was worth it for the competition and motivation
. I hope you guys like it. You can read my dev log here.

Congratz – I declined the Flash in the Flash challenge after two days – flash export is almost totally unusable if you’re using c# – I’ve run into so many problems I gave up. Colliders, performance, random crashes, stuff like 2d array never working….
Those issues are by no means C# specific: http://tyrus.tumblr.com/post/15392115635/pile-of-kittens-day-10
I had to cut a good deal of things to make it in time, had to spend a big chunk of time optimizing, and had a lot of wtfs, but I’m glad I got it done in the end. The other good news there is that I reported my issues to Unity’s staff and most of them were already well on their way to being fixed in the next version.
Well… that’s what this “compo” was about, big public betatest
It is a very very good game!
Thank you
. I thought of the name for LD #22 when I was still hoping “kittens” would be a topic, but I’m glad I had 10 days to work on the game and idea instead of just 48 hours.
HOLY CRAP this is fun!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it!
Good luck, btw.
