I’ve finished my game, and now I’m wondering where would be a good place to host it (I’ve never bought web hosting). Its made of HTML5 + Javascript. It’s 7mb. I’d be nice if it was relatively fast. I’d be willing to drop $10-$20 for a temporary hosting soloution.
I like nearlyfreespeech.net
Pay as you go, easy to set up
But I can host it for you if you like
It’ll be hosted at niu.uz/
I’ll remove it after the compo though
I could be wrong, but if you can wrap up the whole code etc. into a single .html, the dropbox is a nice easy, quick and free way to host stuff for LDs.
I second https://www.dropbox.com/ — you get 2 GB free, and you can host static sites perfectly, with the exception that default index files don’t work properly.
In other words, you couldn’t do /LD48/22/
When you mean /LD48/22/index.html
Otherwise, you can have as much HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Audio, Image, and any other piece of static content you want!
Not to mention it’s as easy as moving files into a folder to update and publish.
Is THAT how you do it?
Try http://www.awardspace.com Choose the free web hosting.
I use http://www.000webhost.com/ which is free and has 1gig space with no adds.
Hit me up on twitter if you’re still looking for some temp hosting – I’d be happy to whack it on my bluehost account until after voting finishes. @aaronsnoswell.
I’ll host it on my site. Zip it up and I’ll upload it.
I feel your pain, evilseanbot! I’ve spent the last several hours trolling Google for such a thing. Thank you to everyone who suggested something; I will now check those out.
