(-o^_^)-o The Hugmonster commeth

(-o^_^)-o  The Hugmonster has arrived and it thinks you look like you need some CHEERING UP!

 

Awww, they always get allllllllll squishy when they meet the Hug Monster!

 

So, it’s not really hard to set up input and motion in Unity. The little guy walks, and has a really short walk cycle that ramps up from 0 frames per second up to his max depending on his current velocity.  The same is true of the Hug Monster.  They both derive from an Ambulator class that contains the basics of walking and jumping.  The human player’s motion is controlled by the player while the Hug Monster relies on its AI to try to find the player and GIVE HIM A BIG OL’ SQUEEZE.

 

The Ambulator has a nice inertia effect, so walking has a smooth acceleration.  Since the Hug Monster is such a beast, it has a slower acceleration than the player but it has a higher maxVelocity, so once it gets going you can’t outrun it by speed alone.  You’ll have to rely on terrain.  Of course, the Hug Monster can jump too just like the player!

It’s simple, but it’s enough before bed, I think.
