Feels Like Cheating

Just randomly generated music by playing around in Wolfram Tones (http://tones.wolfram.com/) until I got something suitable.

Fed the generated midi through GXSCC (http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-SanJose/8700/P/GsorigE.htm) to export a wave with a more retro feel instead of ear shattering 1995 midi.

Used Audacity to encode .wav into a .ogg.

The Result:

Wow! easy random filler music!

Now to hook up some SDL_mixer or some such so it can be heard in-game.

    Wow, this is actually pretty amazing.

    Very cool indeed. Having a look at this. This will likely sound better than anything I could do.
    Though if I have time I might still try to make something myself.

    wow, I’m using similar approach (yay for randomly generated midis ;) ), but your end result sounds much much better

    GXSCC rules! I compose a “traditional” MIDI and then use GXSCC to make it old school :)

    Probably is cheating :/

    @SpaceManiac
    As far as LD goes it seems 100% fine. Rules don’t seem to exclude anything like this (There will be a handful of wolfram tones entries this time around, there were probably a handful before too!)
    As far as the legal disclaimer goes, by my reading the legal disclaimer excludes the site and the content of it from commercial use. 1) this isnt the site, or the content– it is a midi file generated using the tool provided on the site. 2) this is totally non commercial, heck its even open (source code and all).

    I would like to find some music generation software that is more tuneable in the future and ideally supports pleasant instruments built-in so I don’t have to run it through a second piece of software to get something usable!

    Over all I am happy with this flow and will use it again for place holder or even as a starting place for more complex compositions!
