My First LD
Hello LD community. I’ve been following LD since #18 (not long, I know) and I thought I’d try my hand at the main competition. I’m exceptionally excited and I’m on the lookout for tips from veterans. Could someone direct me to where the LD community congregates? I’ve heard mention of an IRC channel…
I’ll be developing in python 3 with pyGame and possibly pyOpenGL depending on the nature of the project. If anyone has experience creating standalone apps or at least using distutils to package the correct items with any of those modules, I’d be very grateful for advice.
Looking forward to a great competition!
P.S. Advice on screencap software for a Windows environment is welcome too. I have none and don’t wish to buy any. Email is the best way to contact me -check my profile. Thank you all very much!

We’ve been following for about the same amount of time, so if I don’t find the time to participate, I’ll cheer for you : D
For congregating, we have IRC and this blog. I recommend using both.
As for screencap software, I’m not sure what you exactly mean by that, but to capture video, try CamStudio, to make a timelapse video, try Chronolapse. You probably have something already for taking still screenshots, but if not, try ZScreen.

Hey, I can’t seem to find your e-mail, so I’ll just post my suggestion here:
I made a software in .NET some time ago, SpeedPainter, and its purpose is solely recording time lapses (well, originally it was record a speed paint – but it really just records the screen in the time lapse form). It is obviously free, very easy to use. Here is a download link:
