I’ve updated my LD final entry page, but I wanted to let you know that I finally created a Stop That Hero! Windows port (2.2MB)!
Now you have no excuse not to play! Well, assuming you don’t use a Mac. Or some other OS. Then you have an excuse.
Just played it. AWESOME. I think this is a really great concept, tower-defence-esque and a fun role reversal. I wish I could storm his captured castles to regain my position. It worked perfectly on my Win Vista PC. I am so glad you included the F key speedup; that was my preferred speed. Great work!
Thanks for the comments! Yeah, after release, I realized that the sped up version feels a lot better. It turns it from a 20-30 minute session into a game you could play multiple times without realizing it.
Also, I was thinking about the idea of having your spawned creatures recapture towers, too. There were other things I’d like to change. For instance, I’m not happy with how slowly the resources come into play. I’d prefer it if you could create lots of monsters at once. Right now, you can only really have a few at a time. If you wait too long, the hero will be at the castle, and if you start building early, you lose the monsters before you have time to create more.
Soon, I’ll write up a post mortem to talk about the design decisions for Stop That Hero! and my future plans for it.
