A cheater rests in our midst

The creator of Simcano has gone long after the deadline. The screenshot shown with the entry was taken at the deadline; spot some of the differences between it and the linked game. I’d played it shortly after the deadline and saw its highly positive comments recently so I went at it again. It went from previously only placing tiles to now being a full game.

    Oh, shut the fuck up.

Looking at their placement (#82 Overall), it doesn’t look like it affected their results. If anything, continuing to work on your game after the deadline is encouraged, but we admittedly don’t have a good way to say what’s a “post compo” version and what’s an entry.

He does not say this and he does not provide the original :/

Given the low ratings I wouldn’t get too worked up over it… but perhaps somehow tracking the edits to entry pages would help prevent this in the future?

Nora asked me at the end if he could work on his entry after, and I’d told him it was ok, as long as he left the old version up… (I am not presuming to be the boss, just that I’d gathered that was acceptable from past LDs)

Buuut, his English is not great yet, and so he’s probably a bit ignorant of the rules. Give the guy a break, he’s new! Would it not be more productive to point out the rule to keep the original version up, rather than jump on the blog to accuse him of cheating? :(
