How to use Google Sites to host a game
Here is a quick explanation on how to use Google Sites to host your Ludum Dare Project.
- Go to http://sites.google.com/
- Sign in with your Google ID. (If you don’t have one, you will have to create one.)
- Click on ‘Create Site’
- You can pick a template at this stage if you like. Or you can select Blank Template.
- Make sure that you have selected that the whole world can see the site.
You will get a nice site. The project template one is kind of nice, if a bit noisy.
In order to upload files, log into your site.
- In the upper right hand corner you will see ‘More actions’ Click this, then click ‘Manage site’
- On the right hand side, select ‘Attachments’
You might see some files here if you didn’t select a blank template. - Click ‘Upload’ at the top or bottom.
- Find your file on your computer, and click ‘Upload’ (Uploading to the top level is fine)
After the file is uploaded, you can construct a URL to it like so:
http://sites.google.com/site/<your site name>/<your file name>
