Just a reminder that you have 5 days to finish your research for Mini-LD #9. The rules are:
- You may use any code you write between now and Friday, May 22nd at 9:00pm EST, but ONLY if it pertains to playing or processing sound.
- You will be provided with a resource pack containing sound assets for use in your game.
- Sounds will be provided in the following formats:
- MP3/OGG
- XM
- WAV
- General MIDI songfiles
- Due to the size of the resource pack, I will make all sounds available on a webpage so that you can preview them and select the ones you want.
- All other code for your project must be written from-scratch, during the compo.
Here is the original announcement. Good luck, and see you on friday!

Wow. Aside from messing around with pySonic and determining that, yes, FMOD works, I don’t know what I could write between now and Friday. Your ‘prepare for the Mini LD’ posts just keep getting me worked up in fits of bemused excitement.
What Will It Be?! I must find out…
If anyone’s looking for a way to generate cool sounds on the fly, check out http://www.nicolasfournel.com/audiopaint.htm
Scratch that. Coagula Light 1.66 is much better. It does, however, take more time to use, so Audiopaint might be better for “rapid fire” sound creation.
Delaney, you might be interested in DrPetter’s SFXR, if you’re into the quickly-generating-sound-from-parameters thing. It’s pretty much a standard tool around here.
not much preperation for me to do as I’ll either be using flash or unity, but now my mind is in gear, when the theme is announced I’ll be ready!
I like the ’sound’ of this mini-LD! (HAHA!)
I bought a guitar in preparation for this contest!
Well, okay, maybe it was just a coincidence, but the timing works out well. Can copious digital effects compensate for my absolute lack of musical talent? We’ll see!
