I need help, food related.
Alright, so I’m at that point in my life where I’m cooking my own meals. Problem is I have no idea what to cook and not much experience. I’ve been experimenting but I’d like to expand things faster. So here’s the game, I list all the foods I currently have access to and you name something non-simple that I can cook. General instructions appreciated. Preferably, something I can cook in 25 minutes in the morning, toss in a sandwich bag or some cellophane and eat it at school.
Foods after the jump.
In no particular order:
Broccoli, bell peppers, tomatoes, corn, mushrooms, zuchinni, carrots, eggs, potatoes, spelt bread, pita bread, tortilla/wrap bread, lettuce, chicken, various pastas, pasta sauce, granola, olive oil, salad dressing(maybe), Provalone and monteray jack cheese, goat’s milk (seriously, think of it as really whole milk), orange juice, frozen shrimp, various spices, rice, oatmeal, peaches, and white onions. And probably some more I can’t think of right now.
Please nothing involving a microwave. Preferably something I can cook in a frying pan or casserole. Thanks.

Cake!
The easiest recipe ever: weigh 3 eggs, take the same weight of flour, butter and sugar. Mix the butter and sugar, add the eggs (optional: only add the yolks, whip the whites and add them at the end, probably not super important but apparently makes it lighter), add the flour slowly (well slowly enough that it doesn’t clump) put in in a mold or pan, (you should probably butter the sides so it doesn’t stick) and put it in the oven for 40 min or so around 200ÂșC. (When you stick a knife into it it should come out dry when done.
Good luck with the cooking.

I’m trying to come up with an awful dish that contains all of the above.

PoV: Next LD theme?
Make pasta as normal, then fry it with a little bit of the olive oil in a pan for a few minutes. It ends up being a pizza of pasta, and you can eat it with a fork or make a sandwich out of it.

I’d recommend a plastic bowl with a tight fitting lid to put these in.
With random veggies and rice, you’ve got a stir fry!
heat olive oil on med until it crackles when water is flicked upon
add chopped onions, fry til transparent
add chopped bell peppers and thin sliced carrots
add broccoli, shrooms, zuccini
spice with cumin and sesame seeds and soy sauce, or a bottle of marinade like Soy Vei! will take care of your saucy needs.
serve over brown rice
taters are magical beasts, chop them into cubes and boil them until soft, then you can mash them up with some water/milk and garlic/onion powder, fry them with your stir fry, or add more veggies to make a soup.
pasta is the easiest, get water boiling, add pasta and cover on low heat for 10-12 mins (depending on pasta thickness) strain and add sauce. heating the sauce with some fried onions and bell peppers and shrooms is better.
burritos are a flexible option, heat a can of beans, wrap with salsa or tomatoes and hot sauce, lettuce and maybe rice if you’ve got time. throw on some slices of avocado. warm up your tortillas on med to prevent breakage.
salad goes with everything, just chop yer veggies into a bowl. splash with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for classic dressing.
oatmeal with chopped peaches and a glass of oj makes a fine breakfast.
good luck!
